Gurdwara
On Tuesday 26th March Year 5 visited the Gurdwara in Southall. The children were able to find out more about the Sikh faith and were treated to a traditional lunch.

Kenton Temple
This term Reception have been visiting the local Hindu temple in Kenton. The children walked to the temple and were given information about the Hindu faith.

Year 3 Visit to St Albans
On Friday 22nd March Year 3 visited St Albans and the Verulamium as part of their History and Geography topics. The children had a busy day visiting the museum, the cathedral and the remains of the Roman Town.

Science Fair
The final event of our Science week was the Science fair. Each year group created an impressive display to share the learning that had taken place throughout the week.

WE Assembly and workshop
On Thursday 14th March a representative from the WE organisation visited the School Council children. The children discussed issues that are important to them and came up with strategies and suggestions relating to the issue. The children decided to focus on cyber bullying.

Science Workshops
During Science week each year group had a science workshop which was based around their global goal. It was create to see our children being scientists and enjoying discovering new facts.

Technology Tournament
On Tuesday 12th March 6 members of the Rotary Club organised a Technology Tournament for some children in Year 3 and 4. The children worked in groups to plan, design and make a squirrel bridge. Well done to the winning team.

Orley Farm Maths Challenge
On Monday 11th March 4 Year 6 children took part in a maths challenge against 12 other schools. The children worked in pairs on the three different parts of the challenge. Well done to those children for competing against so many other children.

Little Life Savers
On Monday 11th March, 2 doctors and 2 firefighters delivered a first aid workshop to Year 5. The workshop included basic first aid information and also the opportunity to learn about resuscitation using a manikin. The pupils found the workshop very informative.

Visits to Kenton Library
During Book Week Year 3 & 4 visited Kenton Library to take part in reading workshops. Pupils enjoyed a storytelling session and explored a variety of resources to enhance their enjoyment of reading.

World Book Day
For this year’s World Book Day celebrations, children and staff dressed up as book characters. During the whole week we also took part in DEAR – Drop Everything And Read – with different teachers reading to every class, every day.

WE Day
On Wednesday 6th March, 13 Year 6 pupils travelled to Wembley Arena for WE Day. WE Day is an annual event organised for schools that have made a difference in their schools and community. The event was supported by a number of celebrities. However the highlight of the day was a powerful speech from the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.

British Museum
On Tuesday 12th February Year 5 pupils travelled by tube to the British Museum. The focus of their visit was to the Egyptian galleries where they got to see relics from the past.

Jolly Postman Visit
On Monday 11th February Year 1 visited the Postal Museum and listened to the story of the Jolly Postman. The children enjoyed finding out about the history of post.

Unicef Youth Panel
On Friday 8th February we were privileged to be invited to attend the first Youth Panel at Unicef UK in Stratford. Four Year 6 pupils attended the event and were asked to share our Rights Respecting journey in a presentation to other schools. The pupils also took part in activities, games and provided their ideas and opinions on various topics.

Kenton Synagogue
On Thursday 7th February Year 2 visited our local synagogue in Kenton as part of their learning about Judaism. The children were able to experience what a synagogue looks like and find out more about Judaism.

Safer Internet Day
We celebrated Safer Internet day on Tuesday 5th February 2019. All our assemblies during that week were focused on online safety and pupils were reminded about the importance of keeping safe online. Each class was given a piece of material to create an e-safety picture. These pieces of material will be joined together into a quilt to display in our study centre.

Pantomime
To launch Creative Arts Week staff from across the school put on a performance of Cinderfella. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing their teachers perform and be creative!

Creative Arts Week
The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Creative Arts Week. They had the opportunity to develop their artistic skills through art, music, drama, dance and poetry activities. Each year group focused on a different area linked to their Global Citizenship goal. The children presented their learning during a special assembly.

Jack’s Place visit
On Tuesday 15th January, 10 pupils from the School Council visited Jack’s Place to deliver the donation from our Autumn Term collections. It was fantastic to see the finished garden that has been created for the patients at the hospital. We are proud of how much we have raised over the years for this worthwhile cause.

Infant Christmas Performance
The Infant children recreated the Nativity and told the Christmas story through songs and scenes on the last few days before the Christmas holidays. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and specially made hats.

Junior Christmas Performance
Year 5 took the lead in this year’s Christmas Performance set in the Victorian times. The performance was of a very high standard and was a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.

Victorian Day
At the end of the Year 5 history topic on Victorians, children took part in a Victorian Day. Throughout the morning the children took part in lessons with a Victorian twist – reciting times tables, handwriting practice and sewing but only for the girls! The children and teachers looked fantastic in their Victorian costumes.

Neasden Temple
On Friday 14th December Year 6 visited the famous Neasden Temple as part of their R.E. topic on Hinduism. Pupils were given a tour of the impressive temple and were able to find out about some aspects of the religion.

Headstone Manor
On Wednesday 28th November Year 3 pupils visited Headstone Manor and took part in a workshop linked to their Stone Age unit in History. During the session the children handled objects as well as creating their own piece of pottery. Year 3 were able to find out more about the history of the local area.

Indoor Planetarium
On Wednesday 28th November Year 5 pupils had a specialist workshop in an indoor planetarium – very exciting! As part of their science topic on Earth and Space, pupils were able to experience images of outer space and have an expert to explain key concepts and answer their questions.

National Gallery
On Friday 23rd November Year 4 pupils visited the National Gallery as part of their art curriculum. Pupils took part in a workshop to explore particular paintings in more detail and were able to find out about famous artists. The pupils enjoyed travelling on the tube to the gallery.

Buddhist Visit
On Wednesday 21st November Year 3 pupils were visited by some from the organisation called Bodhi Tree to provide information about Buddhism. Pupils explored the symbolism of the Buddha image, meditation and got the opportunity to ask questions to enrich the R.E. curriculum.

National Young Mathematicians Award
This year 4 pupils from Year 6 took part in Explore Learning’s National Young Mathematician Award. The children were required to work as a team to solve three problem solving challenges. They were judged on their mathematical ability as well as their ability to work cooperatively.

Junior Diwali Performance
The Junior children delivered another spectacular depiction of the story behind the festival Diwali. The audience were treated to songs, acting and dancing of a high standard. During our Diwali celebrations we collected donations for Jack’s Place, the children’s ward at Northwick Park Hospital.

Infant Diwali Performance
The Infant children prepared a special concert to celebrate the Festival of Lights – Diwali. The children had spent time rehearsing their lines and songs during the past couple of weeks. They sang with confidence and delighted the audience of parents and visitors.

TFL – Year 6 Safety and Citizenship Talk
Year 6 pupils were visited by Transport for London to remind them how to keep safe when travelling on public transport. As the pupils prepare for the next stage in their education, it is important that they are aware about being a responsible citizen and keeping themselves safe.

School Council visit St Bernadette’s School
On Tuesday 2nd October our School Council and the School Council from St Bernadette’s met to discuss how they could work together this year. After completing getting to know you activities the pupils discussed improving pupil fitness.

Language Experience Week
To celebrate European Language Day and promote language learning the school spent the week learning different languages spoken in the school and also to learn about the new countries we are going to be linked with as part of the Erasmus project.

Gordon Brown Residential
From Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th September 54 pupils and 6 teachers enjoyed a residential at the Gordon Brown Residential Centre in Hampshire. The pupils enjoyed climbing, archery, fire building, getting to know the various animals and other team building activities.

Harvest Festival
On Friday 21st September the school community celebrated the harvest by donating food items to the Harrow Foodbank. The P.T.F.A. delivered an impressive 3460kg of donations which will support our local community.

Summer Art Competition
Over the summer holidays pupils were challenged to create a self-portrait. There were lots of impressive entries that were displayed for the whole school to see. The new School Council selected the winners for each year group and prizes were given out in achievement assembly.

School Council Elections
On Friday 13th September the School Council Elections were held. Every child from Years 1 – 6 visited the polling station to cast their vote. Candidates delivered speeches to their classes and the class representatives were announced in assembly.

Bikeability
At the beginning of term 36 pupils from Year 6 took part in a 4 day bikeability course. The pupils were trained by cycling specialists and practised cycling safely on the roads. We were proud that they all passed either Level 1 or Level 2.

Mad Science Assembly
On Friday 7th September Titanium Tony and Intergalactic Grace visited from Mad Science. Pupils from Years 3 – 6 were treated to impressive scientific demonstrations on the theme of fire.
